No, not the college team from Miami. I mean this literally - today is officially the end of another hurricane season. I realize this is not necessarily noteworthy to anyone living in a non-coastal area, but those of us who do treat today as a kind of unofficial holiday, where we let out a collective sigh of relief. We are always glad to see another hurricane season end without any first-hand experiences.
Every year, I get a little more paranoid, thinking we're due for a direct hit, because it's been 5 years since the infamous 4 hurricanes in 6 weeks season that we experienced - not fun! I know logically that this is not how it works, with the probability going up each year until the inevitable happens, but I can't shake that feeling of impending doom. It's silly really because we live inland far enough that the worst we get is tropical storm conditions...I think I need to stop watching Weather Channel disaster specials.
At any rate, until next June, farewell hurricanes and good riddance!
