I am cold. I live in central Florida. This is not right.
I grew up in the Midwest with all the bitter cold and blizzards that anyone could ever hope for. I survived. But I didn't like it.
We have lived in Florida for 14 years. Before I moved here I believed the myth that it is warm and sunny here all year. Let me tell you, it's a bunch of tourism propaganda! It gets cold in December and January...really cold (although it is generally sunny). Last winter, my favorite hibiscus bush froze, even though we covered it because it went below freezing 11 nights in a row. We had a couple days two weeks ago where Denver, CO had warmer highs than we did. It got down to 26 degrees one night last week. Which is fine...if you live up north. However, I do not live up north, and it really messes me up when the temperatures are like this. I did not move south to be cold. My blood has thinned and I really think I would freeze to death if we ever had to live through a winter up north. I'm a wimp, I admit it. The ironic part is my middle daughter loves when it gets like this and she prays fervently for snow - where that cold gene comes from, I have no idea!
The upside to this is that it does warm up in between cold spells. Friday (New Years Eve) is supposed to be 77. That's more like it. I'm told that it's supposed to stay like that for at least the next several days. Hallelujah - bring on the heat!
