It's that time of year

So it's the middle of May - next week is the last week of school for us, though we will do stuff here and there through the summer. I'm so ready and so are the kids. This has not been a stellar year for us as far as consistency and scheduling goes. I could blame it on gymnastics but really, it's because I just didn't stay on top of everything like I should have. Plus not having spring break until the end of April really burned me out which made the whole situation even harder. Long story short, I'm really, REALLY glad the end of the year is here.

But here is the wierd part - even as I am counting down the days along with the kids until school year work and duties are done (one more week of kids' chimes, one more week of writing class, one more week of science co-op, one more week of confirmation, one more week of piano, one more week of gymnastics...wow, we might be just a bit overscheduled - no wonder we're burned out!), I am in the midst of planning for next year and getting really excited about it. So one part of me is so burned out from this year that this last week seems like a chore to get through, yet the other part can't wait to get started on next year's stuff.

I know a lot of it has to do with the homeschool convention in 2 weeks, something I look forward to all year. The thing is, I get all energized and excited just as we are wrapping up this year but have the summer before we get started again. It's a very bi-polar time of year for me. But this year, it will be better because next weekend is my son's confirmation and my parents and at least two brothers are coming down for it. I can't wait! We'll see if the distraction makes me less crazy...I'm not counting on it, but miracles do happen sometimes!
