What do ironing and haircuts have in common? I detest doing both of them!
If I was independently wealthy, I would pay someone big bucks to do ironing for me, even though it's really seldom that I actually have to iron more than one thing at a time. I don't know why I dislike it so much, I'm sure that somewhere in the deep recesses of my subconscious I am hiding some horrific ironing incident that happened during my childhood. Or maybe it's just one of those things - God didn't give me an ironing gene. I'm okay with that, so why does everyone keep asking me to do it anyway? Shouldn't we be stimulating the drycleaning economy by letting them do it? Maybe my iron will meet with an unfortunate accident sometime in the near future...
I would also pay someone to convince my husband and son that what they really, really want is to go to a barber or salon and have someone cut their hair who knows what they are doing. After 15+ years of me doing it, the chances are slim to none that this will ever happen. My son is content with a simple buzz cut (for now), so that's not too bad. Somewhere along the line, I made a pretty good case that cutting girls' hair is much harder than boys and I can't possibly do it, so I take the girls to the same lady who cuts my hair and since they both keep it fairly long, they only need trims a few times a year. But my dear husband has probably had a hundreds of different haircuts because I can never seem to do it the same way twice. It's like a mental block or something. Sometimes it turns out pretty good and other times, I beg him to please, please go pay someone who has been trained in the haircutting arts and to please, please, PLEASE not tell anyone that his wife cut his hair. He insists that it's all fine and he likes it - that's sweet and all, but the reality is, my haircuts (for the most part) suck. And because he doesn't see it, I'm going to be giving bad haircuts for the REST OF MY LIFE!! So if you need a bad haircut for any reason, give me a call, and I'll be happy to help you out.
Send 'em my way! I for some reason think because I saw mom cut everyone's hair growing up that I am a trained professional :) I don't mind doing the haircuts!
ReplyDeleteThe ironing on the other hand...I haven't ironed anything in over a year. I throw it in the dryer for a few minutes instead.
