Whirlwind week

It's been a whirlwind week. Monday was a day off for my dear husband, so we spent it getting ready for company. I had 13 kids at my house for writing class Tuesday morning. My mom was supposed to arrive an hour after class ended, but her flight got in early and I was running late so we weren't there to greet her at the gate like we usually do. Luckily she's very understanding about such things! We came home, ate dinner and went to my daughter's basketball game, which they lost 28-4. The silver lining in the loss is that my daughter had all of our points.

Yesterday mid-morning, my dear husband's brother and sister-in-law arrived. About an hour after they got here, my mom, sister-in-law and I took the girls to a gymnastics demo they were participating in near their gym. We watched them along with a dance group demo (awesome!) and a fencing demo (very cool - I think my son would love it). We then dropped the girls off at practice and went home for a late lunch. After a couple hours of visiting, my mom and I went to pick the girls up and go to kids' tone chime practice at church for an hour while my dear husband took my in-laws on a driving tour of the Tampa area. We all got home, had a late dinner and stayed up late talking.

This morning I got up early and made breakfast for everyone. We visited a little, then dropped the in-laws and kids off at the park to walk the trail while I ran to the store for a couple of things. We rushed home so the girls would have time to grab a bite to eat on the way to practice. I dropped them off and had about 15 minutes after I got home to catch my breath before heading out the door again to drive my in-laws to Orlando to fly home. I've not been to this smaller airport before and it was quite a bit further than I thought - it took almost 2 hours to get there. Said our goodbyes at the terminal and headed home. Stopped at Parkesdale to pick up strawberry shortcake and shakes for everyone. When we got home, we had about 15 minutes before heading to my son's basketball game, which they lost by 1 point. Came home and had dinner while watching Million Dollar Drop and Wipeout. Watched Sweet Home Alabama with my mom (forgot how much I liked that movie) and should be in bed, but wouldn't you know it - can't sleep - argh!

Tomorrow morning we go back to Orlando to Wide World of Sports to watch the girls compete at a meet. But once we get home, I think, maybe, possibly, I might be able to stop running for a bit and just be able to enjoy my mom being here. That's probably a good thing because I'm pretty sure I can't keep this pace up for much longer! I do enjoy her being here for the activities, but it'll be nice to have some down time too.
